Official: Mbappé is Real Madrid’s most successful scorer in his first season

Kylian Mbappé made history with his early brace against Barcelona in the 35th round of the 2025 La Liga.

The French international won a penalty kick in the second minute thanks to his speed and a mistake by goalkeeper Szczesny. He then converted it, giving Real Madrid the lead in El Clásico at the Estadio Olimpico Luis Companys.

In the 15th minute, Mbappé scored his second goal for himself and Real Madrid, taking advantage of a magical pass from Vinicius Junior as Barcelona’s defense advanced, and he was one-on-one with Szczesny before easily converting the ball into the net.

With this brace, Mbappé officially became Real Madrid’s most successful scorer in his first season at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The 25-year-old’s brace took his tally to 38 goals in 46 games across all competitions, surpassing the legendary Ivan Zambrano (37 goals in his first season) and making history for Madrid.

Meanwhile, Mbappé surpassed Robert Lewandowski’s La Liga goalscoring record, with this brace taking his tally to 26 goals in 30 games, becoming the league’s all-time top scorer.

It’s worth noting that Mbappé has now scored four goals in his first four Clásicos in his first season with Real Madrid. This is also his fourth goal at the Estadio Olimpico Lluís Companys, having scored twice with Paris Saint-Germain against Barça at the same venue last season.
