Official: Kounde out for a long time with Barcelona

Barcelona announced in an official statement the nature of the injury Jules Kounde sustained during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan at the Olympic Stadium.

The French international underwent tests that confirmed a distal injury to the hamstring tendon in his left thigh. Barcelona did not specify the length of his absence.

Mundo Deportivo reported that Kounde will be out for three weeks, effectively ending his season with Barça unless the Catalan club reaches the Champions League final, scheduled for May 31.

Koudé’s injury puts coach Hansi Flick in a clear dilemma, as he must now rely on Ronald Araujo or Eric Garcia at right-back, neither of whom are particularly adept at performing offensive duties in that position.

Kounde has been a key player for Barcelona this season, evident in his participation in every match in all competitions, missing only one match before the final match against Inter.

It’s worth noting that Kounde left his mark on Barcelona’s season with his stunning goal in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, which secured the Catalans a 3-2 victory and their 32nd title in their history.
