Official: Juventus dismisses Tudor

Juventus announced in an official statement the dismissal of its coach Igor Tudor following poor results, the latest of which was a 1-0 defeat to Lazio on Sunday in the Italian League.

Since last week, Juve’s management had been considering sacking Tudor following the Old Lady’s dramatic decline. The coach was given a final opportunity to take charge in the two matches against Real Madrid in the Champions League and Lazio in Serie A.

Tudor failed to pass the test, losing both matches by a clean goal. Juventus’ management immediately decided to dismiss him and his technical staff, seven months after his arrival at the Allianz Stadium.

Tudor took over as coach of Juventus last March, succeeding Thiago Motta, and has since led the storied Italian club in 24 matches, winning 10, drawing 8, and losing 6.

Tudor will leave Juventus with the team eighth in Serie A with 12 points, six points behind leaders Roma and Napoli, and 25th in the Champions League with two points from their first three matches.

According to Juventus’ announcement, Massimo Brambilla will take over as interim coach for Wednesday’s match against Udinese, pending an agreement on a permanent new coach.

As for potential replacements, Italian media are mentioning the same names as a few days ago: Luciano Spalletti, Roberto Mancini, Raffaele Palladino, and even Thiago Motta, whose contract is still valid until 2027 despite being fired last March.
