Barcelona announced in an official statement that Fermín López has been injured and will be sidelined for a period of time until he recovers and can return to Hansi Flick’s squad.
López left Barcelona’s match against Getafe on Sunday with what appeared to be a serious injury, and there was pessimism about his possible long-term absence.
Fortunately, the injury was not that serious, as Barcelona revealed that López had injured the iliopsoas muscle in his left leg.
In principle, the 23-year-old player will need to rest for three weeks, which would mean he will be out until the international break.
López will miss the La Liga matches against Real Oviedo, Real Sociedad, and Sevilla, as well as the Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain. He will also miss Spain’s World Cup qualifiers during the upcoming international break.
If all goes as planned, Fermín will return for the match against Girona on October 18, which is also expected to mark the Blaugrana’s return to Camp Nou.
