Official: Eriksen Joins the Bundesliga

Christian Eriksen has returned to the world of football, completing a move to Wolfsburg on a free transfer.

The Danish star’s contract with Manchester United expired last June, and the English club decided to be satisfied with Eriksen’s time at Old Trafford and not renew his stay with coach Ruben Amorim’s squad.

Since then, the 33-year-old’s name has been linked with several clubs inside and outside Europe, before finally settling on a move to Wolfsburg.

In an official statement announcing the deal, the German club’s sporting director, Sebastian Schindzielorz, commented, “We have acquired a player with extensive experience at the highest level. His quality on the pitch and his character will be a motivation for our younger players in particular.”

Eriksen spent the last 10 years of his career in England, representing Tottenham, Brentford, and Manchester United, making a total of 310 appearances in the Premier League, after joining from Ajax.

Eriksen will be the seventh Danish player on Wolfsburg’s roster this season. The Wolves have won against Heidenheim and drawn with Mainz in their first two Bundesliga matches.
