Official: Barcelona Announces Star’s Contract Renewal

As expected, Barcelona confirmed that key defender Jules Kounde has signed a new contract with the club until 2030.

The 26-year-old French international’s contract was originally set to expire in the summer of 2027. However, given his contributions and importance to the team, the Blaugrana moved quickly to tie him to a new long-term deal.

The new contract, which runs until 2030, is a well-deserved reward for the versatile defender, who made his name in Barcelona history with his goal that sealed the victory over Real Madrid in last season’s Copa del Rey final.

With Kounde’s signing, Barcelona has extended the contracts of almost all of its key players, with players such as Ronald Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, Rafinha, and Lamine Yamal all signing new deals this year.

Kode joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022 from Sevilla in a deal valued at €50 million.

Since then, Kounde has played 141 matches for Barcelona in all competitions, scoring 7 goals and providing 18 assists. He has also won the Spanish League twice, the King’s Cup once, and the Spanish Super Cup twice.
