Unless something changes, Alvaro Arbeloa will leave Real Madrid at the end of the current season, and the club, under the leadership of Florentino Perez, has begun searching for his successor.
For the past few weeks, the prevailing narrative in the Spanish press has been that Perez wants to appoint Jurgen Klopp and no one else to build a new project at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, ESPN has indicated that Klopp is not Perez’s preferred choice; rather, Zinedine Zidane is the dream coach for the legendary Real Madrid president.
Signing Zidane seems extremely complicated, as the coach has already finalized his agreement with the French national team to succeed Didier Deschamps after the 2026 World Cup, and it is virtually impossible for him to sacrifice his long-held dream of coaching his country.
There are also proposals, which seem unrealistic, for Zidane to coach Real Madrid while simultaneously managing the French national team. However, neither the French Football Federation nor Zidane himself would agree to this idea.
The search for Real Madrid’s new manager is extremely uncertain. Klopp has no intention of leaving Red Bull Salzburg and returning to management, and Zidane is an impossible target. Therefore, Perez’s board will have to be creative and find another solution.
It’s worth noting that Spanish newspapers have indicated Real Madrid’s interest in signing Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, especially since he wants to leave Villa Park at the end of the current season.
