Mundo Deportivo quoted a source close to Nico Williams as saying that he has made a decisive decision regarding his future, particularly a move to Barcelona.
The Athletic Bilbao star is in advanced negotiations with Barcelona, with Joan Laporta reportedly giving the green light for the deal to be completed. All that remains is to find a solution with Financial Fair Play regulations.
According to the latest report, Nico Williams has made the following decision and communicated it to his agent: either move to Barcelona or renew his contract with Athletic Bilbao!
This decision comes despite numerous offers for the 22-year-old from major European clubs, most notably Bayern Munich and Arsenal.
According to journalist Tot Costa of Catalunya Radio, Williams received an offer from Real Madrid but rejected it, informing Los Blancos officials that he would only move to Barcelona in Spain.
However, for Williams, the only thing that motivates him currently is a move to Barcelona and nothing else. He has even informed the Catalan club of his willingness to take a pay cut in line with the economic situation at Camp Nou.
It’s worth noting that Hansi Flick favored Williams over Luis Díaz with the Barça management, and the cost of signing the Spanish international is significantly lower than the Liverpool star.
Barça can close the deal for €60 million without negotiating with Athletic Bilbao, who have informed the Blaugrana management that they have no intention of lowering this release clause under any circumstances.
