It seems Neymar is nearing the end of his football career, as the Brazilian star plans to end his playing days soon.
Neymar currently plays for Santos in the Brazilian league and has renewed his contract with his boyhood club until the end of December 2026.
Neymar has suffered numerous injuries over the past five years, negatively impacting his career at Paris Saint-Germain, Al-Hilal, and now Santos.
When asked about his retirement plans, the 34-year-old replied, “I might want to retire in December 2026, but the decision has to come from the heart. I’m taking it one day at a time.”
Neymar is currently planning to participate in the 2026 World Cup with the Brazilian national team, but this is complicated by Carlo Ancelotti’s requirements for his inclusion.
Ancelotti has confirmed that Neymar will not join the Seleção unless he regains his fitness and performs well with Santos.
The former Barcelona star has only played 45 minutes for Santos so far this season, having missed the last three months due to a knee injury.
Neymar commented on this, saying, “This year is very important, not only for Santos but also for Brazil. There’s the World Cup, and that’s a big challenge for me.”
He added, “I wanted to play at my best this season, so I missed some matches.”
