German football legend Thomas Müller praised Lionel Messi, considering him the best player in the history of football, revealing that he now clearly prefers the Argentine flea when compared to fellow legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Thomas Müller, who has just moved to the MLS from Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada, gave a lengthy interview in which he discussed the expected rivalry between him and Messi, the current Inter Miami star.
When asked who is better, Müller said, “Messi is the greatest player in the history of football. There’s always a debate about Messi or Ronaldo. They’re both insanely amazing, but Messi is a little more elegant.”
He added, “In my first ten years as a professional player, I would choose Ronaldo if there was a debate about who was the greatest player, but after Messi won the World Cup, I chose him.”
He continued, “Because I’ve grown older and become more romantic, I tend toward style and aesthetics more than performance, work ethic, and so on.”
He concluded, “I succeeded with my team in stopping Messi and reducing his influence. However, we suffered heavy defeats against Barcelona, I think in 2015 when they won the Champions League.”
