Moussa Diaby’s move to Inter Milan falls through

Moussa Diaby will remain with Al-Ittihad until the end of the season after his transfer to Inter Milan collapsed during the current winter transfer window.

The Italian club had expressed interest in signing the French player and reached an agreement with him on personal terms, leaving only an agreement with Al-Ittihad to finalize the deal.

According to French media reports, Al-Ittihad’s financial demands for Diaby’s sale were excessive, leading Inter to withdraw from the deal entirely.

The Nerazzurri had already submitted a formal offer to Al-Ittihad to acquire Diaby on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy next summer for €24 million.

Despite Diaby’s pressure on Al-Ittihad, the Saudi club decided to reject the offer, informing Inter that any club wishing to purchase the player would have to pay €40 million.

Inter considered this price excessive, so Beppe Marotta’s management decided to explore other options to strengthen the right wing position, thus bringing the Diaby deal to a complete close.

It is worth noting that Diaby moved to Al-Ittihad for 65 million euros from Aston Villa, and his contract extends until the summer of 2029, which explains the administration’s desire to earn a large sum from him and the strength of the Saudi club’s position in the negotiations.
