Sky Sports revealed that Erik ten Hag received a very large compensation package from Bayer Leverkusen for his sudden dismissal at the start of the season.
The German club decided to terminate Ten Hag’s services after just two Bundesliga matches. The Dutchman was rated as the worst coach in Leverkusen’s history after things went terribly wrong between him and everyone at the BayArena.
Ten Hag signed a contract with Leverkusen until the summer of 2027, meaning the club was obligated to compensate him for his dismissal. According to Sky, the German club paid €5 million to terminate his contract immediately.
In addition to the amount paid, Ten Hag received two months’ salary (July and June), bringing his total earnings from three months in the Bundesliga to €6 million, at €100,000 per working day!
Overall, Ten Hag received €15 million in compensation last year for his dismissal from Manchester United, meaning the coach has accumulated €21 million in dismissals in less than a year!
It’s worth noting that Jose Mourinho remains the coach who earns the most money from dismissals, having earned a total of €108 million from six dismissals, the last of which was from Fenerbahçe, who paid him nearly €20 million.
