Spanish media reports reveal that Real Madrid’s management has decided to freeze Gonzalo García’s departure indefinitely, following a direct order from newly appointed manager José Mourinho.
García was widely expected to leave the Santiago Bernabéu this summer. With Endrick returning from loan and the presence of Kylian Mbappé, the 22-year-old Spaniard’s chances of securing regular playing time seemed highly unlikely.
However, according to recent updates, Mourinho is deeply impressed by the forward’s potential and wants him fully involved in the upcoming pre-season tour before making a definitive decision on his future.
The “Special One” believes that García possesses promising technical attributes that could make him a valuable asset in his future project. Mourinho intends to monitor him closely on the training pitch to properly evaluate whether he should stay or be allowed to leave.
This tactical U-turn comes amid strong interest from Real Sociedad. The Basque club is reportedly preparing a bid worth up to €15 million to secure the talented attacker’s services.
Transfer Update: Consequently, any potential transfer has been temporarily put on hold until at least the end of July. Real Sociedad will have to wait until Mourinho concludes his thorough evaluation of Gonzalo García during pre-season.
