Mostafa Mohamed will be the next Egyptian star to join the Saudi League, having already reached an agreement with a club that has been a giant for a transfer during the current summer transfer window.
Since last January, Mostafa Mohamed has been trying to leave Nantes, but the French club held on to him at the time. However, the situation is different now, and his exit is welcome, provided he receives a large sum of money.
According to French media reports, NEOM, the newly promoted club to the Roshen League, is preparing to submit an official offer of €10 million to acquire Mostafa Mohamed from Nantes, which would meet the French club’s requirements.
Although the Egyptian international would have preferred to remain in Europe, he could not resist the huge salary offered to him, amounting to €5 million annually (250 million Egyptian pounds).
The former Zamalek star was linked with a return to the Egyptian League via Al Ahly, but he rejected several offers from the Red Castle and confirmed that he would not set foot on the Egyptian pitch again except through his childhood club, Zamalek.
Ultimately, the curtain falls on the future of 27-year-old Mostafa Mohamed with a move to NEOM, becoming the second Egyptian player to move to the Saudi league this summer, following Ahmed Hassan Kouka’s free transfer to Al-Ettifaq.
NEOM is one of the strongest Saudi clubs in terms of financial resources and also boasts another Egyptian player, Ahmed Hegazy. This summer, the club has been busy making huge signings, such as signing Nathan Zizi from Nantes for €20 million and purchasing Said Benrahma from Lyon for €12 million. The club is coached by former Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier.
