Mustafa Mohamed is preparing to open a new page in his European career, after his relationship with Nantes reached an impasse, and his departure during the last days of the transfer market became the closest scenario for both parties.
After the French club was relegated to the second division, the relationship between him and the Egyptian striker reached an impasse, in light of his insistence on leaving and his refusal to participate again in the yellow shirt.
The newspaper “L’Equipe” revealed that Mustafa Mohamed is close to moving to the Turkish side Konyaspor for about one million euros, despite the extension of his contract with Nantes until the summer of 2027.
The end of the relationship took on the character of rebellion, after the player missed the start of the preparation period for three weeks after not participating in the World Cup, to be subjected to a financial penalty, before returning in the second half of July and training away from the first team and at the disposal of the reserve team.
Mostafa Mohamed joined Nantes in 2022 on loan, before the French club exercised the option to buy him in June 2023 for €6 million. The 28-year-old striker has made a total of 136 appearances for the Canaries, scoring 29 goals and providing 8 assists.
Konyaspor will not be Mustafa Mohamed’s first experience in Turkey, as he moved from Zamalek to Galatasaray in February 2021, and appeared remarkably quick before turning his loan into a final transfer, with him participating in 58 matches in various tournaments and scoring 17 goals.
Mostafa Mohamed moved to Nantes in the summer of 2022 on loan, before the French club included him in the final the following year, and played 136 games with him, during which he scored 29 goals and assisted 8 others, and now he is close to returning to Turkey and catching up with his compatriot Mohamed Salah, the star of Trabzonspor.
