Ezzalzouli sustained a knee ligament injury during Morocco’s friendly match against Norway last week. The winger requires an extended recovery period before returning to the pitch. Meanwhile, Aguerd failed to fully recover in time after a persistent injury that kept him sidelined with Marseille for the last three months.

To fill the gaps, head coach Mohamed Wahbi has called up Amine Elouazzani (Amine El Sbaï) to replace Ezzalzouli in attack, while Marwane Saâdane will step in as the defensive replacement for Aguerd in the Atlas Lions’ World Cup roster.

In contrast, Noussair Mazraoui will remain with the squad. Despite picking up an injury during the Norway friendly, medical examinations confirmed that the defender will recover in time before the tournament kicks off.

Morocco will launch their World Cup campaign in the USA, Canada, and Mexico with a thrilling blockbuster clash against Brazil this coming Sunday. The Atlas Lions will then face Scotland on June 20th, before wrapping up the group stage against Haiti on June 25th.
