Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed a new Arab signing is close to joining Real Madrid during the current summer transfer window.
The subject here is striker Rachad Fettal, who plays for Almeria, after Real Madrid’s management succeeded in reaching an agreement with him on personal terms for a transfer to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
According to Moroccan media reports, Fettal will not join Real Madrid’s first team, but will instead play for Castilla, coached by Raúl Arbeloa.
The 20-year-old striker, born in Spain but of Moroccan descent, decided last year to represent Morocco’s youth national team, having previously played for Spain’s youth national team.
Fettal has been a prominent striker in the youth and reserve teams in recent years, and last season he was promoted to Almeria’s first team. He began his career there at the age of 14, and moving to Real Madrid is his first step outside the Mediterranean Games.
Fettal will be one of the few Arab players to have represented Real Madrid even in the reserve team, following in the footsteps of Moroccans, most notably Achraf Hakimi.
