Liverpool has joined the race to sign Moroccan star Othmane Maama, one of the most promising young talents in world football, who currently plays for Watford in the English Championship.
The 20-year-old Maama rose to prominence during the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, where his efforts helped the Atlas Lions achieve their historic first-ever title on Chilean soil.
Since then, Maama has become a target for several top clubs. Manchester City, Newcastle, and Chelsea are all monitoring him, and now Liverpool has joined the fray, viewing him as the ideal long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Maama is known for his ambidextrous ability, allowing him to play on either wing. He also possesses a remarkable goal-scoring record and has demonstrated impressive playmaking skills with Watford.
Maâma joined Watford at the start of the season from Montpellier for €1.3 million and quickly proved his worth, contributing four goals in 10 appearances. He also provided three assists and scored a goal in seven appearances for Morocco at the U-20 World Cup.
Maâma is under a long-term contract with Watford, which will make him a very expensive signing for any club. However, Liverpool are reportedly prepared to pay whatever it takes to secure his services, hoping he can replicate the success of fellow Arab star Mohamed Salah at Anfield.
