Mohamed Salah appeared in a controversial video after Saturday’s friendly match between Liverpool and AC Milan in Hong Kong, which the Reds lost 4-2.
The Egyptian international made sure to approach the fans, sign various shirts, and take photos. However, in one instance, he intentionally or unintentionally provoked Manchester United.
One of the fans presented him with a red shirt bearing Liverpool’s biggest victories over Manchester United in recent years. Salah did not hesitate to sign the shirt, sparking a huge controversy on social media.
Many considered the “Egyptian King’s” behavior extremely provocative to Manchester United fans and a disparagement of Liverpool’s eternal rivals.
Manchester United is Salah’s favorite opponent in his career with Liverpool, having scored 16 goals in 17 matches against the Red Devils in all competitions, the club he has scored the most goals against in his career.
United are currently in the United States on a pre-season tour, and will face Liverpool in the Premier League on October 18 at Anfield.
