Mohamed Salah admitted that he would have moved to the Saudi League if he hadn’t renewed his contract with Liverpool, noting that he has a very good relationship with Roshen League officials and is still in contact with them.
The Saudi League’s interest in Salah dates back to 2023, when he was on the verge of moving to Al-Ittihad, had it not been for the intervention of then-coach Jürgen Klopp, who blocked the deal.
It was rumored that Salah would move to Al-Hilal before the Club World Cup, but these rumors were dispelled after the “Egyptian King” announced a two-year contract renewal with Liverpool.
Salah spoke in a television interview about his relationship with Saudi Arabia, saying, “I have a very good relationship with the Saudis. They welcomed me and appreciated me very much, and I am still in contact with them.”
He added, “I know very well what I want to do, and I am honest with everyone about it. If I hadn’t renewed my contract with Liverpool, I would have had a very good chance of moving to the Saudi League.”
The 32-year-old opened the door to a move to Saudi Arabia in the future, stating that he doesn’t know what fate holds for him, and that it all depends primarily on his success with Liverpool.
It’s worth noting that during the interview, Salah also indicated that he wants to continue playing football until he’s 40, unless he finds something new and gets bored, in which case he might retire early.
