Luka Modric will remain in Europe after leaving Real Madrid, having reached an agreement with a major club on a one-year contract.
According to media reports, Modric has accepted the offer he received from AC Milan in the past few hours.
Milan’s sporting director, Igli Tare, traveled to Croatia to speak with Modric and outline the club’s vision for him, and it appears he succeeded in convincing the player to make the move.
The 38-year-old Modric will earn only €3.5 million per year at the San Siro.
The Croatian international had previously received offers from American and Saudi clubs, but temporarily suspended negotiations until the end of the Club World Cup.
However, when Milan, one of the most important teams in European history, received an offer, Modric decided to accept it and embark on a new experience, his first in Italy.
Modric’s plan is to spend next year with Milan, then participate with his country in the 2026 World Cup, and then retire at the age of 39.
