AC Milan’s deal to sign Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta collapsed at the last minute, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
It was reported on Sunday that the French striker had reached an agreement with Milan on all the details and had already traveled to Italy to undergo a medical and officially join the Rossoneri.
According to Romano, Mateta underwent two medicals on Monday evening, and the results appeared to be negative, confirming a chronic injury to the 28-year-old.
As a result, Milan decided not to proceed with the deal, and Mateta and Crystal Palace were informed of this decision, effectively ending the player’s dream of joining the Italian giants.
Mateta is expected to try to join another club in the few remaining hours of the current winter transfer window, as he is determined to leave Palace at all costs.
If Mateta fails to find another club, he will end up with Oliver Glasner’s squad until the end of the season, and will try again to go to a bigger team in the next summer transfer window, with the London club welcoming his sale in any case.
