Radio Catalunya reports that Lionel Messi has completely rejected the idea of returning to Barcelona as a player, regardless of who wins the Catalan club’s presidential election.
Candidate Victor Font had unveiled a major project with Messi at its helm, promising the player a “final dance” at Camp Nou next year, should he win the election.
However, the latest source indicates that Messi has informed one of the candidates – most likely Font – that he is not considering a return to Barcelona and wants to remain with Inter Miami until retirement.
Meanwhile, the Argentine legend is reportedly annoyed by the constant mention of his name in the Barcelona elections and has confirmed to various sources that he has not promised anyone he will ever wear the Barça jersey again.
The Barcelona presidential election is scheduled for March 15, amidst fierce competition, particularly between Joan Laporta and Victor Font.
Messi’s relationship with Laporta is extremely bad, making a return while he is there impossible. Font indicated that he had contacted the Flea’s camp and that he was optimistic about the possibility of benefiting from the 37-year-old commercially and athletically again.
