Messi Reaches 400 Assists, Leads Inter Miami to Victory Over Nashville

Lionel Messi scored two goals and provided an assist, leading Inter Miami to a 4-0 victory over Nashville in Game 3 of their MLS Playoffs Round of 16 series on Sunday morning.

Inter Miami had won the first game but lost the second, forcing a decisive third game at MetLife Stadium to determine who would advance to the quarterfinals.

As usual, Messi was at his best in this match, which resulted in a resounding 4-0 win for Javier Mascherano’s team.

Messi opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a low shot from outside the penalty area, added a second goal just minutes later, and in the 76th minute, set up Tadeu Allende for the fourth goal.

With this, Messi officially reached 400 career assists, more than any other player in football history.

Meanwhile, Messi’s total goal tally reached 894, bringing him very close to the 900 mark, although Cristiano Ronaldo remains more successful in this regard with 954 goals so far.

It’s worth noting that Messi surpasses Ronaldo in the number of goals scored from outside penalties, with 782 for the Argentine compared to Ronaldo’s 773.

Inter Miami reached the quarterfinals of the playoffs, where they will face Cincinnati, who finished second in their group.
