Messi becomes third-highest scorer of free kicks in history!

Lionel Messi scored a stunning goal during Inter Miami’s 2-2 draw with Philadelphia Union in the MLS at Subaru Park.

With Inter Miami trailing 3-1, Messi converted a free kick from the edge of the box in the 87th minute, before Telasco Segovia equalized in the dying seconds.

With his free kick, Messi broke his tie with Ronaldinho and Victor Legrottaglie for the all-time list of all-time free kick scorers.

The Argentine legend has now scored 67 free kicks in his career, making him the third-highest scorer of all-time, just three goals behind second-placed Pelé.

Brazilian legend Juninho remains the player with the most free kicks in history, with 77, most of which were scored with Lyon.

It’s worth noting that Cristiano Ronaldo is seventh on this all-time list with 64.

Messi is the player with the most goal contributions in football history, with 1,242 goals in 1,101 appearances in all competitions.

Messi is now just two goals away from becoming Inter Miami’s all-time leading scorer, having scored 27 goals in his first year at Lockhart Arena. The current all-time leading scorer is Gonzalo Higuaín with 29 goals.
