Famed agent Jorge Mendes believes his client, Lamine Yamal, deserves more than any other player to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or for his overall performance with Barcelona.
The 17-year-old led Barcelona to the domestic double and the Spanish Super Cup, and has been one of coach Hansi Flick’s most influential players, both through goals and assists.
Following his stunning performance in the La Liga Clásico against Real Madrid, Mendes called for Yamal to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
“Lamine Yamal deserves to win the Ballon d’Or this year,” said the renowned Portuguese agent.
He added, “He’s the best player in the world this season. It’s clear to everyone. What he’s doing makes him the most deserving of winning the Ballon d’Or.”
Yamal finds himself in fierce competition with several players for the Ballon d’Or, most notably his teammate Rafinha, who has the most goal contributions for Barcelona in all competitions.
Alongside Rafinha, Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé is a strong contender for the award, given his team’s potential to win the historic treble, as well as Mohamed Salah, who led Liverpool to an astonishing Premier League title.
It should be noted that Yamal has participated in 52 matches for Barcelona this season, scoring 16 goals and providing 24 assists.
