Kylian Mbappé continues to make history with Real Madrid, this time by repeating a feat previously achieved only by the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo.
The French star scored Real’s winning goal against Getafe on Sunday in La Liga. It was the 25-year-old’s tenth goal of the season in the Spanish league, putting him well ahead of his nearest rivals.
Mbappé became the first Real Madrid player to score 10 or more goals in his first nine La Liga matches since Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2014/15 season, when he scored 17 goals in the same number of matches.
That season was a historic one for Ronaldo, as he finished as the league’s top scorer with 48 goals, five goals ahead of Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.
Mbappé appears to be following in the footsteps of his idol at the Santiago Bernabéu, having scored 38 goals in all competitions for Los Blancos last season, breaking Ronaldo’s record as the player with the most goals scored in his first season with Real Madrid.
