Martinelli breaks Donnarumma’s and City’s resistance with a magical goal

The match between Arsenal and Manchester City was not technically up to expectations, but the final moments were extremely exciting.

Manchester City took the lead in the ninth minute through Erling Haaland, and from then on Arsenal worked tirelessly to equalize, with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma shining.

Unlike his usual style, Pep Guardiola relied on a completely defensive plan, with Manchester City only attacking on counterattacks. One of these could have led to a second goal when Haaland found himself one-on-one with the Gunners and unleashed a powerful shot, but goalkeeper David Raya successfully blocked it.

Guardiola continued his defensive approach, and Arsenal continued their ineffective attack, which began to diminish in intensity as the game progressed, until the 93rd minute, when substitute Eze passed the ball behind the defense to fellow substitute Gabriel Martinelli, who slotted the ball past Donnarumma with a stunning finish.

Curiously, after Arsenal’s equalizer, Manchester City moved forward in search of a second goal, even though Guardiola’s side remained in their own half for nearly 90 minutes.

Ultimately, the match ended in a 1-1 draw, and Donnarumma’s resistance ended as he conceded the first goal after three clean sheets.

With this draw, Arsenal moved up to ten points in second place, five points behind Liverpool, while City are in ninth place with only seven points.
