Marc Cucurella has fully embraced his new identity at Real Madrid, to the extent that he is willing to lose his famous hair rather than get a tattoo of Barcelona—the club where his career began.
The Los Blancos secured the Spanish left-back from Chelsea last month for €50 million. With this move, Cucurella joins an elite list of players who developed at La Masia but ultimately ended up at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Currently competing at the 2026 World Cup with the Spain national team, Cucurella was asked if he would ever consider getting a Barcelona tattoo. He quickly dismissed the idea, stating:
“No, I would rather go bald than get a Barca badge tattoo.”
Driven by Champions League Dreams
When discussing his motives for joining Real Madrid, the defender emphasized his hunger for silverware:
“I think about nothing but winning. I want to win the Champions League. I watched the documentaries about Real Madrid’s incredible comebacks; it’s a magical feeling.”
He further added, “I am here at Real Madrid to win trophies. I will handle all the dirty work—let Vinicius and Mbappe attack, and I will cover them from behind.”
Cucurella is widely expected to play a pivotal role in Jose Mourinho’s squad next season. The “Special One” remains unconvinced by alternative left-back Álvaro Carreras, while Fran García is reportedly close to departing the club.
