Fiorentina have entered advanced talks to sign Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee before the current summer transfer window closes.
The Dutch forward previously had a brief spell in Serie A with Parma, who signed him on loan from Bayern Munich in January 2021. However, he made only four appearances before injury brought his season to an end.
Zirkzee returned to Italy with Bologna in August 2022 and reached the peak of his form in the 2023–24 season, scoring 11 league goals and providing four assists. He helped the club qualify for the Champions League and was named Serie A’s Best Under-23 Player.
After seeing his role at Old Trafford diminish, Fiorentina are now working to secure his services. The Italian club have submitted an official offer to Manchester United consisting of a €5 million loan fee and an option to make the move permanent.
Talks are continuing between Fiorentina and Manchester United, while negotiations are also under way with Zirkzee’s representatives in an effort to agree personal terms and complete the deal.
The 25-year-old joined Manchester United on 14 July 2024 after the English club paid Bologna £36.5 million. He signed a five-year contract running until the summer of 2029.
Zirkzee began his career in England by scoring the winning goal against Fulham on his debut. Overall, however, he has managed nine goals in 75 appearances across all competitions, including five goals and two assists in 56 Premier League matches.
Zirkzee could follow several players out of United this summer. Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia have already departed, while Rasmus Højlund completed a permanent move to Napoli, André Onana and Altay Bayındır left on loan, and goalkeeper Radek Vítek was sold.
