Manchester United secures first win of the season against Burnley

Manchester United secured their first win of the season with a 3-2 Premier League victory over Burnley on Saturday.

The Red Devils opened the season with a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, followed by a 1-1 draw with Fulham in the previous round.

Then came the biggest blow, as United were eliminated from the Carabao Cup in the round of 64 after losing to Grimsby, a fourth-tier English club, on penalties.

The first victory over Burnley came with a hard-fought victory, after United took the lead in the 27th minute with an own goal by Burnley defender Josh Cullen.

In the 55th minute, the Old Trafford visitors equalized through Lyle Foster, and new signing Brian Mbeumo then scored United’s second goal in the 57th minute.

Rubén Amorim’s lead was short-lived, and the visitors equalized again in the 66th minute through Jadon Anthony. The score remained unchanged until the 97th minute.

United were awarded a penalty kick in the dying moments, which Bruno Fernandes converted to give Amorim’s side their first three points of the season.

This victory reduces the level of criticism directed at Amorim and United players, while also cementing the manager’s position after speculation that he was close to being sacked.
