Manchester United on the verge of retiring André Onana

André Onana’s time at Manchester United is coming to an end, after the English club agreed to sell him to another club.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Turkish club Trabzonspor has sent an official offer to United to sign the Cameroonian goalkeeper on loan, and the offer was accepted by Red Devils officials in the coming hours.

The management contract is expected to include a clause allowing Trabzonspor to buy Onana next summer for a small fee, provided that this clause is not binding.

The deal currently hinges on Onana’s decision. He has not yet informed Trabzonspor of his final approval, despite United welcoming his departure.

Onana has effectively lost his chances of playing regularly for United after the club signed Belgian goalkeeper Sean Lammens from Antwerp for €21 million on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Despite his fitness, Onana has not featured since the start of the season, with coach Ruben Amorim opting for Turkish Altay Bayındır. The Cameroonian made just one appearance in United’s Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Grimsby, a match in which he failed to save penalties and was widely criticized.
