Manchester United Considers Five Names to Succeed Amorim

Manchester United has begun its search for a permanent successor to Reuben Amorim as manager of the Red Devils. Initially, the English club is considering five names.

Darren Fletcher will take over as interim manager until a permanent replacement is found. The club’s management has its sights set on five managers to choose one to take charge at Old Trafford.

According to The Telegraph, Oliver Glasner, the current Crystal Palace manager, is United’s favorite after the remarkable progress he has made with the London club, leading them to their first-ever trophy titles in the last two years.

The name of Enzo Maresca, recently sacked as Chelsea manager, also appears on United’s shortlist, especially since the Italian brought the Blues back into contention. However, it is expected that he will wait to see what happens with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City before making a decision about managing another club.

Among the names being considered to coach Manchester United is current England manager Thomas Tuchel, whose contract with the Three Lions expires after the 2026 World Cup.

Two other names on United’s shortlist are Eddie Howe, the Newcastle manager who has proven his ability to compete with the Magpies, and Roberto De Zerbi, who previously had a successful spell with Brighton and is currently managing Marseille.

The common thread among all the candidates is that taking over immediately is virtually impossible, leading United’s management to consider an interim solution to salvage the current season.

Fletcher would take charge for at least two matches, and if he proves capable of managing the team, he might continue until the end of the season. Alternatively, United’s management could appoint another interim manager until the end of the season, with the permanent manager arriving at Old Trafford at the start of next season.

It’s worth noting that Manchester United currently sits in sixth place in the Premier League table, just three points away from their objective of securing a top-four finish, which would guarantee them a place in next season’s Champions League.
