Manchester City fell nine points behind Arsenal in the Premier League title race after being held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham in matchweek 30.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Omar Marmoush passed the ball down the left flank to Bernardo Silva, who chipped it brilliantly over the goalkeeper.
City’s lead lasted only four minutes, however, as Konstantinos Mavropanos equalized with a powerful header.
Overall, Manchester City delivered a lackluster and unsettled performance, appearing to lack confidence after their heavy 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League. They failed to create any real danger in the second half.
With this result, City’s tally rose to 61 points, nine points ahead of Arsenal, who had beaten Everton 2-0 earlier in the day, with Pep Guardiola’s men having a game in hand.
This point was invaluable for West Ham, as it took them to 29 points and allowed them to climb out of the relegation zone for the first time in 100 days.
