Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester City has received an offer from the Turkish league to sign one of Pep Guardiola’s stars.
City signed goalkeeper James Trafford this summer and is now obliged to offload one of the two goalkeepers, Stefan Ortega and Ederson, if not both.
According to the Italian journalist, Galatasaray has offered City €10 million for Ederson in an official offer that arrived at the English club’s offices on Saturday morning.
City’s management has no objection to a sale; on the contrary, they are eager to get rid of the Brazilian goalkeeper. However, they believe that €10 million does not meet their financial requirements.
A meeting is expected to take place in the coming hours between Galatasaray and City officials to discuss a new, improved offer and finalize the deal soon.
Meanwhile, Gianluigi Donnarumma is closely monitoring the situation, as Ederson’s departure would mean City would immediately move to sign the Italian international.
Donnarumma was excluded from Paris Saint-Germain’s plans for the new season after renewal negotiations faltered. Meanwhile, Guardiola asked his club to make a move for him, especially since the deal would not be financially costly.
It’s worth noting that Ederson will miss City’s first Premier League match of the season against Wolverhampton due to what Guardiola claimed was an injury. Other sources suggest the player is healthy and his absence is merely to complete his departure.
