Manchester City is considering all available options to succeed Pep Guardiola, and a new name has entered the list of candidates to coach the English club after the end of the philosopher’s era.
Guardiola’s current contract with City extends until the summer of 2027, but with the decline in results this season, it is expected that next season will be the last for the Spaniard, unless a surprise occurs and he leaves this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, the City management has great admiration for what Cesc Fabregas is offering in leading Como, and places him at the top of the candidates to succeed Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
Fabregas succeeded in leading Como to the Italian League last season, and this season he is achieving very positive results that have kept his team, albeit relatively, away from the relegation struggle.
In light of the bold and enjoyable attacking football that Fabregas has presented, the eyes of more than one giant club have begun to turn to him, the latest of which was Manchester City, as it has become believed that he is an ideal successor to Guardiola.
Xabi Alonso remains City’s dream option, but if the Spanish coach leaves Bayer Leverkusen he will head to Real Madrid.
Milan are also reportedly interested in Fabregas, while the coach has rejected the idea of discussing his future, stressing that he is focused on his project with Como, which extends until 2028.
