Riyad Mahrez needed less than a minute and a half to score Algeria’s first goal against Sudan in their opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations group stage.
The Al-Ahli Saudi star received the ball inside the Sudanese penalty area and unleashed an unstoppable left-footed shot, giving Algeria the lead at 1 minute and 20 seconds – the fastest goal of the tournament so far in Morocco.
With this goal, Mahrez equaled Baghdad Bounedjah’s record as Algeria’s all-time top scorer, with 35 goals each, 11 behind Islam Slimani, who holds the record.
Mahrez is also Algeria’s all-time leading scorer in the Africa Cup of Nations, with this goal being his seventh for the national team in five appearances at the tournament.
Enjoy this masterpiece from the Manchester City and Leicester City legend at the Moulay Hassan Stadium.
