Liverpool suffered a major blow that increases their pain after the loss to Galatasaray, as it appears one of their stars will be out for a long time at Anfield.
The Reds were defeated at Rams Park by a goal scored by Victor Osimhen, and after the match, Arne Slot announced that goalkeeper Alisson Becker was suffering from a serious injury.
Alisson left the match in the second half due to the injury, having initially tried to hold on but was unable to overcome the pain.
Slot told the media, “Alisson felt something. I can’t say for sure because I’m not a physiotherapist.”
He added, “It’s certain for me that Alisson won’t be able to play against Chelsea on Saturday.”
Meanwhile, Slot revealed that Hugo Ekitike is also suffering from an injury, but he will need to undergo further tests before determining how long he will be out.
In Alisson’s absence, Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili will be Slot’s goalkeeper after returning from his loan spell at Valencia last summer.
Liverpool enters the Chelsea match under pressure after losing to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray, but they remain top of the Premier League with 18 points from their first seven matches.
