Liverpool has placed Real Madrid superstar Vinícius Júnior high on its target list to bolster their attack in summer 2027, aiming to capitalize on the ongoing delay in the Brazilian’s contract renewal.
According to Spanish journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon, Liverpool executives are closely monitoring the contract talks between Vinícius and Real Madrid, expressing serious interest in securing the 26-year-old winger.
While the Premier League side has not submitted a formal bid nor entered direct negotiations with the player, Liverpool’s potential move hinges entirely on the outcome of the renewal talks in Madrid.
Contract Extension Standoff at the Bernabéu
Vinícius’s current contract runs until June 30, 2027. Under FIFA rules, he will be eligible to negotiate and pre-sign with any foreign club starting this coming January, allowing him to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Real Madrid’s board has scheduled a new round of talks with the player and his agents for July, hoping to finalize an extension before the new campaign kicks off. Internal club sources maintain that the hierarchy remains eager to retain him.
While Vinícius remains a fundamental piece in José Mourinho’s project, previous extension talks stalled due to disagreements over financial terms and salary structure. The Brazilian international previously stated he feels no rush to sign, noting he remains under contract until 2027 with several details still to be discussed.
Liverpool is not alone in tracking the winger’s situation; both Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are reportedly keeping close tabs on the standoff.
During the 2025–2026 season, Vinícius featured in 53 matches for Real Madrid across all competitions, recording 22 goals and 14 assists.
