Liverpool star is Barcelona’s top target this summer… and a backup plan!

Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona has identified Liverpool star Luis Díaz as the Catalan club’s top target to bolster the left wing position during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Barcelona has been keen on signing a left winger since last summer, with Neco Williams as their primary target before the player refused to leave Athletic Bilbao, forcing Hansi Flick to use Rafinha in that position to fill the gap.

The Catalan club’s management wants to create a balanced roster for next season, providing more options in each attacking position to cope with the busy schedule and expected injuries.

On the left wing, sporting director Deco has chosen Luis Díaz, whom he considers the ideal option for this position, while the Colombian international welcomes a trial at Camp Nou.

The biggest obstacle to Diaz’s move to Barcelona remains Liverpool’s unwillingness to let him go. Even if the Reds are convinced to sell, their financial demands of €80 million will not be met, a figure that is currently impossible for Barça to meet.

For this reason, Barcelona’s management has devised a plan B: signing Marcus Rashford.

Rashford would be a less expensive option, and the England international is keen to join Barcelona. He will take a pay cut and pressure Manchester United to accept a deal for less than €50 million.

It should be noted that Barcelona president Joan Laporta has declared that Nico Williams is completely out of the plans this summer.
