The German newspaper Bild has revealed that one of Liverpool’s stars wants to wear the Real Madrid jersey next summer, but the decision currently rests with the Spanish club’s management.
Ibrahima Konaté’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the current season, and the player has so far decided against renewing his stay at Anfield, preferring to seek a new challenge that will reignite his passion.
According to the latest report, Konaté is inclined to leave the Premier League and believes that a move to Real Madrid would best suit his ambitions.
It’s no secret that Real Madrid are clearly struggling in the center-back position and will enter the summer transfer window looking for one or two players to bolster their defense. Konaté is currently on Florentino Pérez’s shortlist.
Real Madrid have yet to decide whether or not to sign Konaté, with several suggestions that they should explore other options, especially given the French player’s significant drop in form this season.
Liverpool are simultaneously working to convince Konate to renew his contract, but so far the efforts have not been successful, pending Real Madrid’s final decision, which is expected to be made in April at the latest.
