The situation at Liverpool has become increasingly complicated in recent hours following Mohamed Salah’s statements against the club’s management and manager Arne Slot. However, the undeniable truth is that the Reds’ officials are currently siding with the Dutchman, opening the door for the “Egyptian King’s” departure in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Salah stated that he felt “thrown under the bus” and that the club made him a scapegoat for the decline in performances and results this season. He also admitted that his relationship with Slot has completely broken down in recent weeks, despite having been excellent since the manager’s arrival at Anfield.
According to The Athletic, Salah’s statements will not change Liverpool’s management’s stance in support of Slot. On the contrary, they may lead to them clinging to the manager even more and giving him a longer period before taking any action against him.
The management believes that the manager has the full right to make technical decisions, and there is considerable surprise at Salah’s comments, especially since the 32-year-old has always demonstrated professionalism. His recent stance seems completely inconsistent with his position as Liverpool’s second captain.
It is now highly likely that Salah will be excluded from the Champions League match against Inter Milan, as well as the Premier League game against Brighton next Saturday, before traveling to Morocco to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations with the Egyptian national team.
In another report from Al-Riyadh newspaper, the option of Salah leaving Liverpool in the winter transfer window is on the table, and it is highly likely that the Egyptian international will end up playing in the Saudi league.
A meeting is planned between Salah and his agent on one side, and Liverpool’s management on the other, to discuss the player’s future. This meeting is scheduled to take place as soon as Salah’s participation with the Egyptian national team in the African tournament concludes.
Saudi clubs are closely monitoring this meeting, and according to Al-Riyadiyah, there is a willingness to bring the player to the Saudi Professional League in January. However, the matter currently hinges on Salah’s own decision, as well as the price Liverpool’s management will set for the player, whose contract runs until the summer of 2027.
It’s worth noting that Salah has only scored four goals this season, and for the first time in his career with the Reds, he was benched for three consecutive matches. Surprisingly, Liverpool’s results haven’t improved, with the team managing only one win and two draws.
