Liverpool Blocks Robertson’s Move to Tottenham

Liverpool have decided against allowing Andy Robertson to join Tottenham this winter due to the club’s need for the 32-year-old’s services.

Tottenham entered negotiations with Liverpool to sign Robertson last Friday, and the Reds’ management agreed to the talks in recognition of everything the Scottish international has contributed at Anfield.

There was an intention to let Robertson leave for Spurs, especially since his contract expires at the end of this season. However, many Liverpool officials opposed the idea, deciding that the team’s current precarious situation necessitates retaining every player, particularly one of Arne Slott’s key leaders.

Liverpool informed Tottenham officials on Monday that they were withdrawing from negotiations regarding the deal, especially since Milos Cerques was injured in the recent Bournemouth match, leaving Robertson as the only available option at left-back.

Robertson has only started four matches this season, yet the club sees his continued presence as essential given their lack of confidence in Kerkiz and their reluctance to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at Roma due to serious doubts about his ability to fill the left-back position.

Robertson will have the opportunity to move to Tottenham or another club on a free transfer next June, with expectations that Liverpool will not offer him a contract extension.
