RAC1 reported that Jules Kounde will play for Barcelona against Real Madrid after recovering from the pain he suffered over the past week.
The French defender did not participate in Barcelona’s training sessions on Thursday and Friday due to muscle pain, raising questions about his fitness and ability to be available for the upcoming El Clásico.
The good news for Barcelona is that Kounde was able to fully participate in Barcelona’s final training session on Saturday. Unless there’s any news, he will travel with the club’s delegation to Madrid to be part of Hansi Flick’s squad for El Clásico.
Flick’s assistant, Michael Sorg, said in the pre-Clásico press conference, “Koundé trained this morning. We have to wait and see how his body reacts after the training session. If he’s ready to play, then of course he will play.”
Kounde has participated in 12 matches for Barcelona in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and assisting another. He is the Blaugrana’s primary right-back, and his presence will be crucial in halting the threat posed by Vinicius Junior.
Barcelona is missing several players due to injuries, the latest of which was Rafinha, who suffered a setback in training on Friday. Other players also include Juan Garcia, Gavi, Robert Lewandowski, Dani Olmo, and Ter Stegen.
