Barcelona confirmed in an official statement that Robert Lewandowski has fully recovered from his recent injury and will be available for Saturday evening’s match against Athletic Bilbao.
Lewandowski missed the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Atlético Madrid due to a sudden eye injury. Barça won the match 3-0 but were eliminated from the competition 4-3 on aggregate.
According to the Barça statement, Lewandowski is now injury-free and will lead Hansi Flick’s squad in the highly anticipated match against Athletic Bilbao at Camp Nou.
Despite his recent dip in form, Lewandowski remains a key player in Barcelona’s attack this season, having scored 14 goals in all competitions, 11 of which have come in La Liga.
Barcelona currently leads La Liga by one point over their closest rivals, Real Madrid. A win against Bilbao would extend their lead back to four points with only 10 rounds remaining.
It is worth noting that Bilbao enters the match against Barca with low morale as well, after losing to Real Sociedad and being eliminated from the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
