Leverkusen Signs Top Coach to Replace Alonso

Bayer Leverkusen has finalized an agreement with a top coach to replace Xabi Alonso as coach of the team starting next season.

Alonso had terminated his contract with Leverkusen early in order to fulfill his dream of moving to Real Madrid, succeeding Carlo Ancelotti.

According to German media, Leverkusen’s management has settled on Dutchman Erik ten Hag as Alonso’s successor.

The German club reached an agreement with the former Manchester United manager to take over, and he signed a two-year contract.

Ten Hag is considered one of the most prominent coaches in the Netherlands and one of the most prominent coaches in the world in recent years.

Ten Hag achieved many significant achievements with Ajax domestically, then took over as coach of Manchester United, where things went perfectly in his first season, only to decline sharply in the last two seasons.

This will not be Ten Hag’s first job in Germany, as he previously worked with Bayern Munich’s reserve team for nearly two years.

Ten Hag faces a difficult task by all standards, following Florian Wirtz’s potential departure to Liverpool, the departure of Jérémie Frimpong, and numerous offers from several stars, such as Fabian Schick and Victor Boniface.
