Italian media reported that Rafael Leao informed Milan’s management of his desire to leave the Rossoneri during the current summer transfer window.
The Portuguese international’s contract at San Siro still extends for another three years, but the player is uncomfortable and wants a new experience outside of Italy.
According to recent reports, Leao has received particular interest from Bayern Munich, who are still looking to sign a left-winger and a major deal after failing to secure Florian Wirtz.
The 25-year-old has a €175 million release clause in his contract with Milan, and the Italian club would not mind selling him for more than €70 million.
Bayern Munich was willing to pay €100 million or more for Wirtz, so it appears the cash is available, but the matter currently depends on the outcome of the negotiations between the two clubs.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich isn’t the only club interested in Leao. The player has received inquiries from Premier League clubs, and he may also be on Barcelona’s radar, which is looking for a left winger this summer.
It should be noted that Milan will not participate in any European competition next season, which has strengthened Leao’s desire to move to a team that will allow him to compete with the big clubs.
