Barcelona moved closer to clinching the La Liga title after a resounding 4-1 victory over Espanyol at Camp Nou in Matchday 31 of the 2026 season.
Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Girona on Friday left the door wide open for Hansi Flick’s men to retain their La Liga title for the second consecutive year.
With his appearance in this match, Lamine Yamal surpassed the record previously held by Real Madrid legend Raúl González, becoming the youngest player to reach 100 La Liga appearances at 18 years and 272 days old.
The league leaders delivered a dominant performance in the first half, finishing with a 2-0 lead thanks to a brace from Ferran Torres, who scored his first La Liga goals since late January.

Nerves calmed down after Lamine Yamal scored the third goal, capitalizing on a rebound from Espanyol goalkeeper Dmitrovic. Two minutes later, Marcus Rashford effectively sealed the victory with a stunning volley for the fourth goal.
With this, Barcelona reached 79 points, extending their lead over Real Madrid to a commanding nine points with only seven rounds remaining in La Liga. The Catalan side now needs just four more wins to officially clinch the title.
