Real Madrid suffered a bitter and unexpected defeat at the hands of Celta Vigo, losing 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu in the 15th round of the 2025-26 La Liga season.
Real Madrid’s performance was poor from the outset, and their woes deepened when Éder Militão was forced off injured in the 24th minute. Fran García was then sent off in the 64th minute.
In the 54th minute, Celta Vigo capitalized on their superior play, taking the lead with a superb strike from Veljko Svedberg. Svedberg then sealed the victory with a second goal in the final minute, effectively ending Xabi Alonso’s men’s hopes of a comeback.
This defeat marks Real Madrid’s second loss in La Liga this season, following their derby loss to Atlético Madrid. They have also drawn three other matches against Rayo Vallecano, Alavés, and Elche.
