The story of Kyle Walker and Manchester City has finally come to an end, with the England international completing a move to another Premier League club.
Walker’s form declined last year, leading to his fall from favor with manager Pep Guardiola. He was then loaned to AC Milan in January, with an option to buy, but the Italian club decided not to activate it this summer.
Walker has now settled on a two-year deal with newly promoted Burnley, making him one of the highest-paid players at Turf Moor.
The 35-year-old said after the official signing: “Burnley performed brilliantly defensively last season. I’m looking forward to adding my experience to the squad and helping my teammates develop. The challenge in the Premier League is always tough, but we have the ambition and quality to make a strong showing.”
He continued, “When I spoke to Scott Parker (the manager) about the new project, I didn’t hesitate for a moment and decided to join Burnley. Now we’re starting a new phase, and this is a new challenge for me, and I’m very excited about it.”
Walker is a Premier League legend, as evidenced by his 410 appearances for Sheffield United, Tottenham, and Manchester City, winning the title six times. He also led Pep Guardiola’s side to the 2023 Champions League title, along with two FA Cup titles, in addition to a distinguished international career during which he played 96 times for the England national team.
